A man was apprehended by police in Fortaleza after abducting his stepdaughters following a domestic dispute. The incident unfolded on Friday night when the 36-year-old suspect, after assaulting his wife, fled with her daughters, aged 11 and 14, in a vehicle. The police initiated a pursuit after the suspect ignored orders to stop, leading to a collision with other vehicles.
The two girls managed to escape by jumping out of the moving car during the chase. The police quickly intervened, arresting the suspect in the Montese neighborhood. The entire sequence of events was captured by the city’s video surveillance system, which played a crucial role in tracking the suspect’s movements.
Following his arrest, the man was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident. He was later charged at the Women’s Defense Department in Fortaleza with multiple offenses, including threats, mistreatment, and causing distress to minors. Additionally, he faces charges of threatening and physically assaulting his wife. The suspect is currently in custody, awaiting further legal action.
