Enem volta a ser certificado do ensino médio e estudantes enfrentam entraves

Students who have completed the National High School Exam (Enem) are expressing concerns over difficulties in acquiring their high school completion certificates, which are crucial for university enrollment. Despite the Ministry of Education’s decision to reinstate the Enem as a valid certification method after nine years, many students report that the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (Inep) has not provided guidance on obtaining these documents. Inep plans to launch a digital application by early March to address this issue, but with university enrollments starting in February, students are worried about potential delays.

The Enem certification is available to individuals over 18 who have not finished high school, provided they score above 450 in each subject area and 500 in the essay. Without this certificate, students accepted into universities via the Unified Selection System (Sisu) or other entrance exams cannot enroll. Diogo Augusto, a 21-year-old who passed for a psychology program, expressed frustration over the lack of information from both the Federal Institute of São Paulo and the São Paulo Education Department, fearing he might lose his spot.

Manoel Palacios, Inep’s president, announced that a digital application would be available by the end of February, allowing students to request their certificates online starting March 2. Although enrollments will have closed by then, universities will be informed of this document delay. Palacios assured that the new system would enable students to use their Enem results for certification and immediate university enrollment, unlike previous years when they had to wait for the next selection process.

Currently, the Federal Institute of São Paulo is collaborating on the app’s development, with plans to expand partnerships to cover all regions of Brazil by March. The digital process aims to eliminate the need for in-person visits to institutions. Palacios emphasized that the app’s introduction was delayed to ensure proper communication materials were prepared for students.

  • Access the Digital Certification Platform using a gov.br login.
  • The system verifies the participant’s age; those under 18 cannot proceed.
  • Confirm personal data and select a certifying institution, such as IFSP.
  • Submit the request, which enters a digital queue at the chosen institution.
  • The institution reviews and authorizes the certificate issuance.
  • Once approved, the certificate is digitally signed and registered with a validation code.
  • Participants receive the certificate via email or download it from the platform.
  • Universities verify the certificate’s validity through the system.
