Enem volta a ser certificado do ensino médio e atraso preocupa estudantes

Students who have taken the National High School Exam (Enem) are facing difficulties in obtaining their high school completion certificates, which are essential for university enrollment. The Ministry of Education (MEC) recently reinstated the Enem as a valid means of certification after a nine-year hiatus. However, students report that the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) has not provided clear guidance on how to obtain these certificates, causing anxiety as university enrollment deadlines approach.

The Enem can serve as a high school diploma for individuals over 18 who have not completed their studies, provided they score at least 450 points in each subject area and 500 in the essay. Without this certificate, students accepted into the Unified Selection System (Sisu) or other entrance exams cannot enroll in universities. As enrollment begins in February, students are worried about missing out due to the lack of available certification information.

In response to these concerns, Inep President Manoel Palacios announced plans to launch a digital application by early March, allowing students to request their certificates online. Although university enrollments will have concluded by then, institutions will be informed of the delay in documentation. Palacios assured that the new system will enable students to use their Enem results for certification and immediate university enrollment, unlike the previous requirement to wait for the next selection process.

The digital certification system is being developed with the collaboration of the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP), with plans to expand partnerships to other regions by March. This initiative aims to simplify the process by eliminating the need for in-person visits to institutions. The application will verify eligibility based on age and scores, allowing students to select a certifying institution and submit their requests digitally.

  • Access the digital certification platform using gov.br login.
  • Verify age and score eligibility.
  • Select a certifying institution, such as IFSP.
  • Submit the request, which enters a digital queue for approval.
  • Once approved, the certificate is digitally signed and sent via email or available for download.
  • Universities can verify the certificate’s authenticity through the system.

Despite the current challenges, Palacios reassures students that the digital solution will be operational in time for the 2026 Sisu process, ensuring they can proceed with their academic plans without further delay.
