Família brasileira morre em ataque israelense no sul do Líbano durante trégua

In a tragic incident in Lebanon, a Brazilian family was caught in the crossfire of ongoing hostilities. Eleven-year-old Ali Ghassan Nader, along with his Brazilian mother Manal Jaafar and Lebanese father Ghassan Nader, lost their lives following Israeli airstrikes. The bodies of Manal and Ghassan remain missing, according to the boy’s uncle, Bilal Nader.

Bilal Nader recounted that the family had returned to their former home to collect belongings during a temporary ceasefire. Unfortunately, they were caught in a sudden attack. The couple’s eldest son survived and is reportedly recovering well. “My nephews were outside, while my brother and sister-in-law were inside when the bombing occurred,” Bilal explained, highlighting the devastation that left their three-story house in ruins.

Despite a ceasefire extension between Israel and Hezbollah, hostilities have persisted. The Israeli military resumed operations in southern Lebanon, citing repeated ceasefire violations by Hezbollah. The Brazilian government condemned these actions, emphasizing the need for Israeli forces to withdraw and for the ceasefire to be respected.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently announced an extension of the ceasefire, following discussions in Washington. However, the effectiveness of this agreement remains uncertain as both sides have engaged in recent exchanges of fire. The Brazilian embassy in Beirut is providing support to the affected family.
