A man was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery in Vila Olímpia, a neighborhood in São Paulo’s southern zone, on Monday night. The incident occurred when João Vitor Soares de Lima Vieira, a 26-year-old IT developer, and his girlfriend were approached by a robber on a motorcycle. The assailant took their cell phones, and João Vitor, attempting to retrieve his girlfriend’s phone, was shot five times, with one bullet hitting his chest.
João Vitor was quickly taken to Hospital São Paulo, where he underwent surgery to remove a bullet lodged in his clavicle. As of now, his current health status remains undisclosed. The police are actively searching for the suspect, who fled the scene. Surveillance cameras in the area may provide crucial evidence to aid in identifying the perpetrator.
Witnesses reported to the police that a silver vehicle was involved and left the scene driving against traffic. The incident was officially recorded by the 12th Metropolitan Military Police Battalion around 8:30 PM. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the crime and are working to identify those responsible.
