TCU amplia auditoria e avalia governança de estatais federais com fragilidades fiscais

The Federal Audit Court (TCU) is set to compile data from a task force established to oversee nine federal state-owned enterprises identified as fiscal risks. This initiative, launched at the end of last year, aims to address financial vulnerabilities highlighted in a National Treasury report. The companies under scrutiny include the Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company (Correios) and the Brazilian Mint (Casa da Moeda), among others.

In response to a report from the National Treasury, the TCU initiated a task force to examine nine out of 27 state-owned enterprises that pose potential threats to public finances. These enterprises include Correios, Casa da Moeda, various Dock Companies, the Asset Management Company (Emgea), the Brazilian Company for Nuclear and Binational Energy Participation (ENBPar), and Infraero.

The task force’s work is organized around five thematic areas: management and innovation, financial performance, personnel management, procurement, and information technology. The goal is to extend the oversight beyond financial aspects to include governance, operational efficiency, and management quality.

The TCU President emphasized, “The objective is to broaden the scope of oversight beyond financial aspects, incorporating governance, operational efficiency, and management quality. These factors often underlie the fiscal challenges faced by these entities.”
